  Something is gone wrong
Posted by: PetrosKa - 2024-12-29, 18:14 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (11)

Hello everyone and season greeting. Up to the 4th of December everything was running good for station 2916 since it was installed. I've done just about everything I know and what fund on the forum but the problem still stays. Good number on totals and valid but nothing on involved and used, manual mode. Thresholds around 110mv and noise around 45 to 48mv. My green station is running still good for over 10 years.
Regards
Petros

  Help understanding the maps
Posted by: ThunderDownUnder - 2024-12-23, 00:35 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Recently we had a strong storm front, mainly lightning with little rain. I grabbed a screenshot from lightningmaps.org for the last hour. A question has been raised on what the map actually shows, as to whether they are cloud to ground strikes, cloud to cloud, strikes or strokes.
I thought the grid total is for strikes, and strike locations may and often do include many strokes.
Appreciate any clarity we can get on this.
Thanks.

Are there any hams on this sub who are involved with the lightning project "Blitzortu
Posted by: charlotteabrams - 2024-11-26, 04:47 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Are there any hams on this sub who are involved with the lightning project "Blitzortung?"

I continually monitor BLITZORTUNG.ORG because lightning in Utah can pop up very strong and very quickly in the summer. My question is: are there any hams that are involved with this system to receive and report lightning strikes, anywhere in the world. Is the board difficult to populate, and does it require any surface mount components? What about the receiving antenna...I see a lot of variations and wonder which type has shown the best success. My QTH is only two miles west of the Wasatch Front...part of the Rocky Mountains. I'm at 4400 feet and the mountains go to about 7500 feet, so there is the possibility that I might not be able to "see" lightning to the east of me. Thanks for any advice or ideas.

Hello
Just wondering if anyone else finds the search feature very random and frustrating?.
I can never find anything specific to what I'm searching for. So many times I see experience users quoting threads to people asking questions. which tells me the forum search is not doing it's job.
Just my opinion.

Blue Classic and Ham Radio possible interference
Posted by: KM4LFT - 2024-09-30, 13:49 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Our club is hoping to install a Blue Mini with filters on top of a 185 foot tower that's shared with ham radio antennas.  Ham radio transmitters are all less than 100 watts over the range of 3.5Mhz to 440Mhz.  Can anyone share their experience or expectations for possible interference on the Blue Mini from those transmitters?  Thanks, Larry, Georgia
