Lightning History Only up to 2 hours
Posted by: lintup - 2015-07-05, 11:59 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (6)

I can only view lightning strikes for up to 120 minutes. Will the 24 hour / date & time options be available again?

  Data source for an application?
Posted by: LenyMcCormick - 2015-07-05, 11:46 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (6)

Hi,

I would like to create a iOS application using the data from Blitzortung, but, after some search, I can't find any information about where I can find the data... I know that the two "live maps" (from LightningMaps.org & Blitzorkung.org) use a websocket service for the data, but I don't know if I can use it in my app...

Is anyone here can tell me where I can find these informations?

Thanks in advance Smile

  Statistik meiner Station
Posted by: Martin.Kerstiens - 2015-07-04, 12:18 - Forum: Non-English - No Replies

Guten Tag,

  • Letzter detektierter Blitz:04.07.2015 12:09:06 UTC

  • Blitze:231 (Liste)

  • Signale:418

  • Ortungsquote:55,3%

  • Blitzquote:4,2% (Karte)

  • "Eigene" Blitze:0 (0,0%)

Martin

  Lightningmaps.org history zoom

The Europe view on lightningmaps.org doesn't show any strikes if zoomed in. You used to be able to do this fine. Does anyone know a fix?

System BLUE / capability to handle external RF fields
Posted by: tkuhmone - 2015-07-02, 20:50 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (10)

Hi,

just joined to the forum :-)

I am looking for a future opportunity to setup my monitoring station behind a remote internet connection. I am interested of the system BLUE when it comes available - hopefully later this year.

Do we have any preliminary information (possibly from development team) how good this equipment is for handling nearby RF fields? I got some comments from local amateur radio operators, that the VLF area where BO hardware operates, would be not so easily disturbed...

I mean the frequencies, for example in HF band roughly 3.5 to 30MHz, that is used for the ham radio operators. I ask this because the planned location of the station, would be same as the location of my RF-transmitters. The power levels feed on antennas at HF would be estimated 50...100W max. Maybe in a future I could install some VHF/UHF transmitters also...

thanks,

  Strike accuracy question
Posted by: Quasar1011 - 2015-07-02, 14:41 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (6)

When zooming in on the maps so that the scale is 1000 feet (or 200 meters), the colored lightning strike dots will be surrounded by circles. The circles are different sizes. What does this mean? Is the position of the strike calculated more accurately, the smaller the circle?

This is my first post, and I didn't see this addressed elsewhere. Confused

  Station near an electrified railway
Posted by: Huge - 2015-07-01, 22:38 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I know I can't apply to get the kit yet, until Blue is available, but I figured it doesn't hurt to ask.

I've just moved house, and might be able to host a detector. The problem is, within about 15m of my house on the other side of my garden fence, is an electric railway (which operates at 1500v DC, if that makes a difference).

I'm near a station, so the trains are often pulling quite a large amount of current as the accelerate away from it, and they can usually be seen to make quite large sparks on the overhead line as they do so. Would this sort of thing, in close proximity to a detector, cause a problem?

  Help interpreting data?
Posted by: aorange - 2015-07-01, 21:26 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hello all,

I'm hoping someone can help me.
I'm researching an event from last night where a series of lightning strikes occurred within a small window of time. I've been able to pinpoint and capture the strikes using lightningmaps.org but need help interpreting the data!  Could one of you experts help out a newbie with an easy bunch of questions?  Huh

Thank you in advance!

  Can radar be disabled?
Posted by: CASkywarn - 2015-06-24, 19:20 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (1)

Seems that radar really slows down my lightningmaps display.
I recall in earlier months being able to toggle radar on and off, and kept it off.
Now I seem to be unable to find where to turn radar display off.
Any help?
