  Brackets for system blue enclosure
Posted by: petterfs - 2020-04-17, 18:37 - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

I wanted to hang the enclosure on the wall, and designed and printed a couple of brackets. The files will be shared on Thingiverse.com shortly (search for blitzortung)

  System Blue order status (10.3.2020)
Posted by: Egon - 2020-03-10, 20:21 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (33)

In April the new board PCB 20.7. will be available. The production of the boards takes a little bit longer at the moment. The assembling process is currently somewhat restricted by the COVID-19 coronavirus.

This year too, the detectors will be almost exclusively sent to interested parties who are in areas not yet covered. Since this is not satisfactory for many interested parties in well-covered areas, I am releasing the layout files of the previous system Red for the own production of smaller series of boards. This is interesting espacially for people from Germany, as the necessary parts can sometimes not be easily obtained in other countries. Details of this project are discussed in another thread.

Hi All
My GPS was working fine, then it stopped. I did unplug it from the box to tidy up the cables. Now nothing. Any suggestions?
Many thanks

100 watt ham transmitter near a blue
Posted by: davidsaroff - 2020-03-03, 17:48 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (9)

I have a ham radio. Yaesu FT-450D. I transmit 100 watts on the 20, 40, 80, and 160 meters ham bands. How should I protect a blue in the same radio shack?

Anak Krakatau: Lightning frenzy points to scale of volcanic plume

So the question. Could these strikes be detected? Is their anything different about them?

Given a map of volcanoes, could the system be used to detect eruptions and perhaps provide early warnings?

http://volcano.oregonstate.edu/volcano_table has lat long of some volcanos

Smithsonian has a list of current erruptions

https://volcano.si.edu/gvp_currenteruptions.cfm

You would expect any lightening to be pretty fixed, even if the wind is blowing. That rules out most moving weather systems.

One problem, being a mountain, they do tend to trigger cu nims anyway.

Ethernet speed connection 10/100 on PCB 19.5
Posted by: lyova - 2020-02-29, 10:58 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (6)

Hello everybody.
For a long time I was not interested in the connection speed between my router and the device PCB 19.5.
Currently, the connection speed is 10Mb / full duplex and only connects automatically on router side.
All attempts to establish a manual connection to 100Mb / full duplex were unsuccessful.

The question is for those who know whether the device works with a connection speed of 100Mb / full duplex or is it possible a problem on the part of the device?

Thx.

  System Blue artwork...
Posted by: SalesJam - 2020-02-12, 17:08 - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

For those of us making our own enclosures for the system blue, I have made a piece of artwork that may be useful to some of you for creating a front panel.

Also, I have created a back panel to be made as a PCB, this can be opened using Sprint Layout.

  Image with statistical information
Posted by: Egon - 2020-02-08, 21:58 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (43)

Hello,

I am currently developing a new image for the detector data with statistical informtion of the last 4 weeks. The image should help to recognized interference times and other probems.

Here is an exampl of my detector

https://map.blitzortung.org/statistic_1....omposed=10

Parameters are
station
region
minutes_composed
header_line 0/1 switches the heading off / on
header_text 0/1 switches the color explanations on / off
drawing_area_height 1-300 defines the scale height.
weeks 1-4 limits the display to the last weeks
time_zone -11/12 adjust the rtime scaling to local time
background_transparent 0/1 set background color to transparent

Greetings,
Egon
