BO's live vector map can now be easily integrated on websites with a fixed map. The easiest way is as iframe. Here is an example.

http://map.blitzortung.org/mapexample.html

The various parameters are self-explanatory.

The following parameters with the values 0=false and 1=true are for the controls.

interactive 0/1
NavigationControl 0/1
FullScreenControl 0/1
ScaleControl 0/1
Advertisment 0/1
InfoDiv 0/1
Cookies 0/1

The settings in the menu can be controlled with the following parameters:

MapStyle 0-3
MapStyleRangeValue 0-11
Lightning Range 1-2 1-2
LightningCheckboxChecked 0/1
CourseRangeValue 0-10
CourseCheckboxChecked 0/1
CountingRangeValue 0-10
CountingCheckboxChecked 0/1
CirclesRangeValue 0-10
CirclesCheckboxChecked 0/1
SpeedRangeValue 0-10
SpeedCheckboxChecked 0/1
LinksRangeValue 0-10
LinksCheckboxChecked 0/1
Detectors Range 0-12
DetectorsCheckboxChecked 0/1
CoverageRangeValue 0-10
CoverageCheckboxChecked 0/1
DayNightRangeValue 0-10
DayNightRangeValue 0/1
AudioRangeValue 0-10
AudioCheckboxChecked 0/1
RegionRangeValue 0-9
RegionRangeValue 0/1

Have fun!

How to accurately determine local time on maps
Posted by: PCS-North - 2019-10-16, 14:53 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - No Replies

Hi,

I am trying to verify the map time (shown as UTC +2) against the actual local time at a given location. For example, looking at Oklahoma / Kansas, the time still shows UTC +2. But I think this area is on UTC -5. So, can I say reliably that the time on the map, minus 7 hours, is the local time for Eastern Oklahoma / Kansas

Thanks, this is a great resource and a very cool project!

Received System Blue offer. The order was ignored.
Posted by: s1ini - 2019-09-23, 09:41 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Hi,

On 5 September I received an email with an offer to order a System Blue unit. I selected the order option which our team requires and provided a delivery address. However, I received no response and the 14-day notice to order has since expired.

What seems to be the issue?

I wonder, when is Bermuda's radar coming back on lightning maps? I remember it being there months ago before they had to take it offline to make upgrades

  embedding blitzortung-map in grafana dashboard
Posted by: gono - 2019-09-22, 20:36 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (1)

Hello alltogether,

blitzortung is really a great project. I am already on the list, if a station in Dortmund, germany is needed Wink

My question is: Does somebody use a blitzortung-map in grafana? I managed to embed the interactive map as html via iframe:

The embedded map is static and does not resize, if the browser window size is changed. In this case scrollbars are shown in the interactive map due to defining a static height and width:

Did somebody already try to embed a reziable map? For my case, the interactive map is not necessary. This small map is great:

.png   2019-09-22 22_36_53-Integrate into your own website __ LightningMaps.org.png (Size: 4.72 KB / Downloads: 103)

I would be great if I could define
1. the central point of the map (e.g. Dortmund = 51.514468, 7.465147)
2. the width e.g in kilometers or as coordinates of how much from the map is always shown, (200 km width or "show the map until 51.336534, 9.499416")
regardless of how small or big the map is.

Any hint would be helpful.

Have a great day

  Coverage in Sweden falling off
Posted by: TheLea - 2019-09-19, 19:05 - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Hey there!

Recently I've noticed that lightning strikes in northern Sweden has been absent. I had a full blown storm above my head with 30-40+ strikes that didn't show on the map.

Previously it has been spot on all the time, but the last two storms were not present apart from one strike out of *many*. Even the giant ones doesn't register even though I think some of them might have raised hairs a hundred miles away.

Is this due to faltering coverage or something else?

  cannot log in
Posted by: opadavis2 - 2019-09-15, 02:59 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

I have had a station for a few years as user: opadavis. Today I cannot sign in. I have requested a new password but this does not work. I have had to generate another name and email address in order for me to ask for help.

My day started with getting a new modem that has not yet assigned an IP address to the lightning reciever. I was able to find it (http://192.168.0.219) for the older Cisco DPC3848V, but cannot find it in the new Hitron 2250.

Please help.

Lightbulb Search text must be at least four characters- how to change to three
Posted by: mwaters - 2019-09-14, 17:21 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - No Replies

Problem: When searching on this forum, we cannot search for gps or any of the six 3-character words at the top of our status pages.

Reason: The default minimum search term in MySQL is four characters.

Solution: A very simple change to a configuration file can change it from to four to three.
This article at https://www.electrictoolbox.com/mysql-fu...ord-length tells how.  Smile

Quote:Change the full text index minimum word length with MySQL

The MySQL full text index by default only indexes words which are 4 characters or longer, which means on a blog like mine if you search for "PHP" nothing will be returned. This post shows how to change minimum word length in MySQL so words or 3 characters (or even 2 if you want) can be indexed as well.

Edit the MySQL configuration file my.cnf which is usually located on a *nix box at /etc/my.cnf or /etc/mysql/my.cnf and add the following line under the [mysqld] section to change the default to 3:

Code:
ft_min_word_len = 3

If the ft_min_word_len value is already in the file then change the number to the minimum length required.

After making this change the MySQL server must be restarted for it to take effect. It is not possible to change the size with a set query (e.g. "SET ft_min_word_len = 3" which will result in the error "#1193 - Unknown system variable 'ft_min_word_len'").

Now that the minimum word length has changed, and new or updated records will use the new minimum word length, but existing records will not be affected. To rebuild the full text index on a column for an example table called my_table, run this query:

Code:
REPAIR TABLE my_table QUICK;

I have seen comments by some people who have suggested that on large tables it may be faster to drop the index and create it again depending on the size, and also that the repairing it may mean the query cache is not flushed whereas dropping and re-indexing will solve this.
Note however that if you drop the index and then re-create it you may get SQL query errors on your website. As always it is advisable to test this sort of thing out on a development server configured in the same way as a production server before doing it to the production server to ensure you don't have any issues.

Can we please do this? "gps" is not the only 3-character word that we've needed to search for.
