Lightbulb mobile system - does it make sense?
Posted by: misha - 2015-04-02, 17:34 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hello,

I wonder if it makes sense to build a station located on a vehicle?

Last year I have been on expedition on polar circle in Russia - near Barents Sea. Having such station could significantly increase accuracy for that region. Are GPS coordinates updated often via network, or station while being registered is pinned to place? This summer I plan to go to Ukraine for a trip, where coverage is better, but still poor.

What are your thougths on it?

Hello everyone,

A year ago i started using blitzortung lightning detection and it worked fine.
Now 2 days ago i started getting problems. The person who wrote the php. unfortunately passed away recently
and it seems i can't find anyone who can help me with this problem.

Here's what is wrong:
i can see the map but it doesn't show any lighning strikes anymore.
I've cleaned the websites cache, updated cronjob, but nothing seems to work.

  Replacement ferrite rod antenna
Posted by: Geewizard - 2015-03-16, 13:14 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I think I might have broken one of my ferrite rod antennas when the H-field amp and antennas fell off the shelf.

I need a replacement but I cannot read German on the supplier's web site: http://www.friese-electronic.de/

Anyone know how I can get just one 200mm ferrite rod antenna as a replacement?

thanks!

Sad Signal file not found empty
Posted by: UODLD1 - 2015-03-15, 21:33 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi,
I have been comparing my signals from the lightningmaps.org site with other stations near by, however today I noticed that all the recording of the signals I did have are gone? Has anyone else experienced this issue and know if it can be rectified or whether my signals are now gone for good?
Thanks, Kerri

  Minimal quantity of stations
Posted by: Lozbin - 2015-03-13, 04:44 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (5)

Hi everyone!
Problem is that I have only one station in my region now. The nearest stations from me is a thousands km.
So, now I can't get a good accuracy for my region. I plan to setup several stations with distance 100-200 km between them.
So, the question is how much stations will be enough? What is the optimal distance between them will be good?
Any other recomendations?
Thank you.

  Wiederbelebungsversuche Green-System
Posted by: GeorgSch - 2015-03-11, 09:42 - Forum: Non-English - Replies (2)

Hallo Blitzorter,

Was ich bisher geschah:

  1. 3V, 5V, ground, open
  2. serial output
  3. serial input
  4. 1PPS
  5. ground
  6. v+ before voltage regulator

Danke euch,
Schorsch

  Station 1175....Need help?
Posted by: Lawrence Stoskopf - 2015-03-11, 04:06 - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Not to suggest that you can't handle the interference issue, but I have several EE friends in Cedar Rapids asking to help if you need some test gear, etc.

I still have some work to do with noise so I can match that guy in Alberta!!!!! He hears everything. I realize that close in stations are the key to location accuracy, but hey, I'm a Ham and DX is a big deal!
