Rare "positive" lightning bolt caught on video
Posted by: mwaters - 2019-05-12, 14:41 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (1)

Is everything in this interesting article technically correct?

Quote:From the Palm Beach Post: "an unusual bolt of lightning up to 10 times stronger than a typical flash that was caught on video by Boynton Beach resident Erica Hite on Sunday. The so-called continuous current, or positive lighting, which was identified by the National Weather Service in Miami after seeing the video, hit outside Hite’s apartment when she was taking video to show her family how bad the weather was."

The video there shows an orange-colored bolt.

  Blitzortung Controller
Posted by: Aelita - 2019-05-07, 13:16 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (6)

I'm somewhat confused on what a lot of the colours and letters mean on the controller since there's no guide for it.

In he gain menu, what does "Disable noise adaption" and "Disable auto amplif. filter" actually mean? What exactly do they do? What does HP on/off mean and what does it do?
On the signals page, what does L and LP mean? Why do the letters turn red? Why does the GPS time sometimes turn red?

Smile System blue antena setup site.
Posted by: bartasmosina - 2019-05-05, 21:05 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (7)

I have a question.

I made three loop antennas for my blitz blue system.

these are three squares with a diameter of 1m 8 turns

how to fill in the data on the blitz station setup page in the input 0, input 1 and input 2 fields. Should I enter 1000,8 or the diameter will be different? Someone told me that with loop aerials it's about a circle and I have to give the diameter of a circle with the same area of my square area

  Location marker

On my lightning map the blue location marker wanders around and I cannot relocate it to my proper location.  Is there a way for me to fix this ?        SS

  Region 3 Stations
Posted by: cutty - 2019-04-30, 17:42 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Did a Region 3 (Americas) 'audit' earlier today.. Below are stations 'inactive', or not reporting...some may have cleared by now...However, if you're listed, might check your controkller, whatever...  especially those "running"
but no signals...
If you've a malfunction, or need help, start a thread at 'internal/troublshootingl'.. not public.. at https://forum.blitzortung.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=39
If your station is permanently offline, please go to your operator's page, and 'delete' the station.. and drop me a PM if you would..  thanks..
If 'below' is temporary, or has been resolved, why not drop me a PM, and I'll update some of the Data on Sferics.Us as needed......thanks..

Yes, some report to multiple regions..

This list does NOT include stations inactive prior to December2018.  If your station is offline, dead, whatever, not listed, and you want it back online, you'll need to 'restart' your station, and possibly have to go into you operator';s [age and 'add it back' if it's not shown.
LIGHTNINGMAPS will likely NOT pick up the change to the BT Database, currently.

Options below Day/Night missing from cell phone access
Posted by: JerryR - 2019-04-30, 12:37 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (4)

Hello everyone, it is a pleasure to join this forum. Thanks for allowing me in.

I apologize if this question has been already asked somewhere but I have not been able to locate it if so.
I am accessing the real-time lightning map both from my PC and from my Android cell phone.
On the PC, below the configuration menu that has Map Brightness, Day/Night, and Rain Radar, I can see these options.
On my cell phone they don't show up.

Am I doing something wrong or is that intentional? Just wondered if I could get these options to show up on the cell phone.
To browse the real-time map on my cell phone, I am using Google's built in Chrome app.

Thanks for any help you can offer and kind regards!
Jerry

Lightningmaps.org archive map area and projection
Posted by: artyb - 2019-04-23, 09:11 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - No Replies

Hi,

I wonder if you could share the area and projection type settings used to produce the archive maps? It'd help users locate a region more accurately. Personally the UK and Europe (Big) ones would be most useful initially.

Thanks for the website etc,

Best Wishes,
A

  Internes Forum für Stationsbetreiber?
Posted by: Simlock - 2019-04-17, 07:11 - Forum: Non-English - Replies (10)

Hallo,

Translated with Google translator:
Hello,
you can no longer log into the internal forum as a station operator for example. to download the latest firmware for the System Blue?
Although I can log in with my lightning location credentials for example to change information about my station, but I want in the internal forum for station operators, I end up as a guest in the normal forum. Access to internal data such as I do not have the latest firmware. Was there something changed with the forum or what's going on there?

greeting
Jörg

  Ad Free Experience
Posted by: JetSetDev - 2019-04-15, 20:12 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (3)

Hello,

I am new here and I have got to say I love this service. I work in an airport and I use this website to track storms and give customers information. I would really like to see an ad-free version and even willing to pay, but am I correct to assume this is not an option? Any way to go ad free?
