  HomeAssistant extension
Posted by: mrk - 2020-07-02, 21:30 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (2)

Hello!
Any HomeAssistant users here? I've just created custom component for HomeAssistant: https://github.com/mrk-its/homeassistant-blitzortung It monitors for lightnings in given area  and provides realtime sensors with distance / azimuth / ligntning count. I try to comply with data usage rules at http://en.blitzortung.org/contact.php#contribution_7 - for example end users connect  through proxy mqtt service, so only single websocket connection to Blitzortung server is required.
Let me know what do you think about, thanks!

Location does not exist on CYA page
Posted by: daftpunk - 2020-06-27, 14:53 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi all,

I find this project interesting and wondered if my location is suitable to be considered for a detector? Unfortunately I can't accurately sign up using the form on the "cover your area" (CYA) page as I am not listed. I live on the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands, between England and France. The Lat and Long are 49.4482° N, 2.5895° W .

Any advice on how to proceed would be great!

Thanks

How to set city and country 2725
Posted by: EnarGustafsson - 2020-06-23, 19:47 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I did not manage to set city and country, is it done internally in the detector or externally on the web? I once got into these settings along with settings for types of antennae. Filled in the values ands saved them, but they did not turn up in the map. Cannot get back to the site where I am supposed to register the data.

I am also not able to log in to the forum for participants.

Question Contributor without antenna?
Posted by: Raph4e1 - 2020-06-23, 13:47 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi folks,

just want to know whether I can be contributor for blitzortung.org without having special hardware (difficult to get atm?) say by means of donations?
I would like to get and analyze some historical lightning data around my place...  Lightning  Huh
And, of course, I want to help the project!  Heart

Best, Raphael

Sad Interference
Posted by: fweens - 2020-06-21, 16:43 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi there,

I received a RED station a couple of weeks ago and tried it in a big city (Paris) and it was working very well.

I moved the station to where it's supposed to stay, in the south west of France and I have a lof of interferences and I don't understand why...

I'd like to keep it in automatic to detect close and far lightnings.

Could some one help me adjusting the settings ?

Best,
Franck

When open directory "Index of /Compendium/Hardware/PCB_20_7/" , we see same file                               05-Mar-2020 15:35              94992
                        05-Mar-2020 15:35              94992
.   If I uderstand right this files must be different.

  New Project Blue request form?
Posted by: 7rst1 - 2020-06-10, 18:25 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

Hi, I am new here, so this question might have been asked before.Smile

Isnt the country of the one that requests is a little too vague. Wouldn't it be better to make something similar to Google Forms where users could input where they could set up the station with low but higher-than-country accuracy? Then you could select the areas which has the most need for new stations and narrow down the requests.

I have no experience with how the distribution of stations works at all, mostly wondering.

Exclamation Here is a rarity: a new station near the top of the stats!
Posted by: mwaters - 2020-06-02, 20:01 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Station 2709 in Valparaiso, Indiana has only been active for a week, yet he is consistently outperforming most of North America. I don't recall ever seeing a new station do this. Exclamation

He is in a low-noise area, the storms have been quite a distance away, and since his gains are constantly changing he is apparently in Automatic mode. Of course, he may need some assistance once some storms get close. But regardless, you have to applaud the guy! Smile

Right now, he is #3 on this chart.

https://www.lightningmaps.org/blitzortun...on_id=3072

He is near Chicago.

Can E-field antenna be casted in resin?
Posted by: OH4GRM - 2020-05-31, 18:34 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (3)

I wonder if E-field antenna could be casted in resin to make it more weatherproof. Would casting detoriate the performance? I have thought to put the antenna inside a plastic pipe tube and then fill it with resin to seal it from rain and weather.

Comments appreciated,

OH4GRM
