Volcanic Lightning Taal Eruption - pasense - 2020-01-12 blitzortung has so far recorded 9 strokes that were probably due to the ongoing eruption of Taal volcano, which produced spectacular ground to (volcanic) cloud lightning. RE: Volcanic Lightning Taal Eruption - scilover - 2020-05-28 I watched the video of the eruption and its amazing how after almost 40 years, Taal volcano erupted! Its amazing how lightning can be formed from electrical discharge in the eruption. I noticed from the video that there was a lot of lightning in the Taal’s eruption. I think its because of the plume that reached high into the freezing atmosphere from the eruption. Then ice particles formed and started colliding thus creating lightning.
