Posted by: ChristosPapasoulis - 2021-05-16, 23:52 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Hi guys, i am new here, and i would really love it if someone could answer me this question.
Whenever i tried to check the blitzortnung archive (Historical data => Historical Maps) i saw that before 2018 every date i put, a white page is being shown and thats all. No archive... How can i get access of the older dates (before 2018) for some amature reaserch purposes?

Thanks in advance!

Smile Station blue not visibile on local server ID
Posted by: Elektrofeldmeter - 2021-05-16, 19:06 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (6)

Hi,

I make a short post to explain what happened to me recently. I bought a second hand station with programmed network parameters which were not suited to my network.  The consequence qas a steadily blinking network LED. I was not able to understand the underlying problem... because you need access to the embedded html server of the blue system in order to make a nice and easy diagnostic.
I then had a look at the forum and I could not find any hints, I then started on my own trying things. I resolved the problem (on linux but on windows it would be the same) by connecting a Serial to USB adaptator, see pic below.

I then tried with the moserial software to understand the message delivered by the blue system, to this end I had to adapt the communication speed between my computer and the blue system (config file for the moserial software is also attached to this post). I used a FT232 adapter from waveshare configured in 3.3 V.

The config file for the moserial is also reminded below:
[port_settings]

device=/dev/ttyUSB0
baud_rate=115200
data_bits=8
stop_bits=1
parity=0
handshake=3
access_mode=0
local_echo=false

.txt   Moserial_Blitzortung_Blue_System_Settings.txt (Size: 355 bytes / Downloads: 4)

I could then read the message provided by the blue system during the initialization phase (after reseting the system), see an exemplary copy of it:
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | === Network static config is: ===

2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | IP:      192.168.50.235
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | Netmask:  255.255.255.0
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | Gateway:  192.168.50.1
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | DNS:      8.8.8.8

2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 |
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | EVENT: Network is UP

This message showed me clearly that the system was looking for the wrong local network address, I had to change my local network address in order to fulfill the requirement of the blue system. Using this approach I could connect to my Blitzortung box though the router and reconfigure it properly. I switched on the DHCP and then I could manage having everything working.

It is not very complex but you should trust in your competence and try to perform wild debugging.

I hope that this contribution couöd help people in the future.

  Sky News - accuracy of data
Posted by: adamparker - 2021-05-12, 07:22 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi all,

Adam here from Sky News. We had a horrible incident last night in the UK where a boy was killed by a lightning strike. I wanted to ask about the accuracy of the mapping and how much margin of error there is likely to be?

I am considering taking a screenshot to show lightning strikes happening in the area around the time of the incident.

Thanks for your help

  Network problems
Posted by: DrRobin - 2021-05-05, 16:46 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (2)

Hi,

I have the same problem as Wilku and wheronet, DHCP keeps requesting a new lease every 4 or 5 minutes even though it connects.  Debug log also shows the same errors as Wilku.

system Blue FW9.2 PCB19.3

I can't go to this link

Cutty reply to Wheronet
See this thread [Image: dodgy.gif]  https://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=3438  should work for you now after upgrading to participant.

Can you fix it for me too please?

  Network errors
Posted by: wheronet - 2021-05-05, 01:14 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (1)

For the last few days my System Blue (FW 9.2PCB 19.5/H1/E1) has been flashing the network light intermittently and then totally rebooting.

THe logs for remote configuration status show :

URL: http://tracker.blitzortung.org/control/
Next Request: in 1m, 51s
Station Id: 2882
User Id: 2269
Requests: 101 with 209kB and 98 errors.

Am I doing something wrong, it's a fairly recent error (I think)?

Is there a newer firmware I should be using?

Edit: I see a similar issue on this locked post https://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=3443 , but the link to https://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=3438 doesn't work for me

  Location on Live Lightning Map
Posted by: SteveQlQ - 2021-04-18, 16:31 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (1)

Hi..This is a minor "problem", but I just noticed this. If I click on "Locates the user on the map" a blue dot comes on which is very close to my actual location. However the icon with my station number is not in the same place; sometimes close and other times a few miles away (and it changes). Is this normal?

Thanks, Steve

  Problems displaying historical lightning data?
Posted by: Rain - 2021-04-16, 16:43 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi there,

I have been having difficulty loading past lightning data on LightningMaps for at least over a month now, at the following link: https://www.lightningmaps.org/. Using this link, please try to select a day when lightning was known to occur in your area and see if anything appears (or if the correct amount of observed lightning appears like it should). At times, lightning dots would appear, but then some are noticeably missing or are only partially shown. In other cases, they would disappear randomly when zooming into the map.

In general, the dots that represent detected lightning strikes do not appear when clicking on the relevant day. I have tried different browsers and the problem persists, and I have tried on different computers. Could there be an internal problem? If so, would it be rectified soon?

Thank you, and I look forward to your response concerning this issue. Any feedback would be so greatly appreciated!

Smile Does Anyone have system Red PCB file?
Posted by: Karol614 - 2021-04-06, 18:21 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

good evening I have been using blitzortung storm maps for two years and finally decided to build my own lightning detection station. The problem is that I am only in the queue for the blue system until 1480, which means that in a few years I will receive the blue system. so I decided to undertake the construction of the red system.
Unfortunately I can't find the necessary software components anywhere, and especially the pcb file. is it possible to find these files somewhere, or are they not available?
Will it be a problem when registering a station that I am not in the Age of majority?
Thank you very much for your help! Have a nice evening Karol614 Lightning
