  Looking for a receiver
Posted by: va3mw - 2014-07-16, 14:36 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi All

We are looking to install some of these in Ontario, Canada, but as there is no hardware available, would anyone care to sell me one that is either still in a kit more or even completed and currently isn't in service or that you don't need anymore?

We would like to get it completed while the summer thunderstorm season is going on.

Many thanks all

Mike

  Use data in free mobile app?
Posted by: mraviator - 2014-07-15, 10:35 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (7)

I have a free weather mobile app and would like to know if I can use the lightning data in it without licensing issues. I've found th eCC BY-SA on this page (http://www.lightningmaps.org/about?lang=en) and think I can. Is this correct?

thanks

  A few questions!
Posted by: wheniwake - 2014-07-14, 19:18 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

Hi, was researching into how to use a raspberry pi for a weather station when I stumbled across this site. This is definitely a project I am interested in and have yet to see a station in Central Scotland! I expect I will see a fair delay before kits are available again, I'm sure I can wait!

I have filled out the email form for further information however have not had a reply (granted it was only 24 hours ago) will I be waiting until after the summer break for a reply?

I have had a look but cannot find a UK sub section or forum , is there one?

  Nearby Power Lines
Posted by: Steve_Bell - 2014-07-14, 16:00 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (26)

Hi all,

New Forum member here thinking of building a station in Worcester, UK. (There's a nice hole in the grid that needs filling! :-)

HOWEVER... My house is around 100 meters or so from overhead power lines. Have a look at British post code WR5 3TD on Google Earth. ( http://is.gd/GDyHvW )

Look carefully, and you can see the lines and a shadow of the closest pylon alongside the main road to the West of us.

I am wondering if anyone else has any similar situation and what interference they have/have not experienced. I did email Tobias, who responded as follows:

"...we don't know whether it will work. It depends on the current and voltage through the line, your antennas, gain settings and so on. It might work, but only with some lower sensitivity. You can also ask in our forum whether other users have experiences in this."

So, that is what I am doing. Does anyone have any views as to whether this will be a problem or not?

Many thanks, all.
Steve Bell.

Here's a better picture showing the location of my house and the lines.

Congratulations for having the Portuguese language added to options for the Blitzortung homepage.

Just a note: When we chose Portuguese language, on the forum tab, the text "Fórum" is missing. It's shows empty.

  Problem beim Updatevon myblitzortung auf 1.3
Posted by: StoehrMa - 2014-07-10, 07:14 - Forum: Non-English - Replies (2)

Dann kam folgende Meldung:

Aktualisiere Version 1.1 -> 1.2

ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` ADD `comment` varchar(128) NOT NULL AFTER `country`: Fertig
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` DROP `show_mybo`: Fertig
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` CHANGE `amp_antennas` `amp_antennas` VARCHAR(100): Fertig
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` ADD `amp_pcbs` VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL AFTER `status`: Fertig

Aktualisiere Version 1.2 -> 1.3

ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` CHANGE `amp_antennas` `amp_antennas` VARCHAR(100): Fertig
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` ADD `amp_pcbs` VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL AFTER `status`: Fehler

Aktualisierung beendet!

Aktualisiere Version 1.1 -> 1.2

ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` ADD `comment` varchar(128) NOT NULL AFTER `country`: Fehler
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` DROP `show_mybo`: Fehler
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` CHANGE `amp_antennas` `amp_antennas` VARCHAR(100): Fertig
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` ADD `amp_pcbs` VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL AFTER `status`: Fehler

Aktualisiere Version 1.2 -> 1.3

ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` CHANGE `amp_antennas` `amp_antennas` VARCHAR(100): Fertig
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` ADD `amp_pcbs` VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL AFTER `status`: Fehler

Aktualisierung beendet!

ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` ADD `amp_pcbs` VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL AFTER `status`: Fertig

lg
Martin

Aktualisiere Version 1.1 -> 1.2

ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` ADD `comment` varchar(128) NOT NULL AFTER `country`: Fertig
ALTER TABLE `mybo_stations` DROP `show_mybo`: Fertig

Aktualisierung beendet!
Update-Info: Setze Version auf 1.1

DIE VERSIONS NUMMER WURDE WIEDER NICHT HOCHGESETZT UND SOMIT BEKOMME ICH IM INTERNEN BEREICH WIEDER DIE UPDATEAUFFORDERUNG!

  spare boards, somewhere
Posted by: Detlef_A - 2014-07-10, 07:06 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Hi forum,

I discovered blitzortung recently and Im very enthusiastic about the idea. Unfortunately new boards for system Red will be available at the earliest this autumn. I dont want to wait that long, so my question: Are there any spare boards available somewhere? The board layout files alone (it is Eagle, right?!) would also be sufficient, I'd have the boards manufactured somewhere.

THX, hope to join the network soon.
Cheers
