Well the kit has arrived safe and well from Germany Smile. I will do an inventory of the parts tonight and hopefully if all goes well, we will have a new reporting station in northern New South Wales, Australia, by the end of next week...... Smile LightningLightning

  Removing Station 723 from list
Posted by: Ian.Cooke - 2015-01-05, 17:14 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (5)

Hi,

Looking through the pages of stations, I noticed that my original station (723) is listed, this died after a thunderstorm on the 28 August 2013, the Red board was ok, it was the ST board and LCD which needed changing, but it came back to life as station 755, how do I remove 723 or is it that important? (I was thinking it might skew the metrics of available stations to actual online).

Cheers

Ian

  Zero signals?
Posted by: Andrew.Instone-Cowie - 2015-01-01, 23:07 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (7)

Since about midnight last night, the Mean signals per station and # signals per station have dropped to zero for my station and all the other UK/Europe stations I have looked at on lightningmaps.org, and the station statuses are active but "no reception". On BO participants page the signals numbers are also zero, but the last signal time stamps are still incrementing.

My controller is up and running and seems to think it is sending signals ok.

Is there a problem?

Andrew

question regarding map use on own website
Posted by: ace2 - 2015-01-01, 08:50 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (3)

I'm a new member waiting for the devices to be on sale again and have a question.
I have a weather station and web site(ACE2WEATHER) and I wish to use the map(Oceania) on my own website which is all in htm format, can this be done easily?
Im guessing once I have a detector and submitting data, this could be possible..

Sorry for the noob questions, I just wish to have everything sorted as I get my lightning detector.

  Blitzortung data for analysis ?
Posted by: vikingpower - 2014-12-28, 08:10 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (3)

Hello all !

I am an independent Big Data developer and software architect. For a new application, named Stratus, that I am currently developing, I would need a large test data set to index and analyze. I have been watching blitzortung all summer, and found the data blitzortung produces potentially very interesting.

Stratus is going to be open-sourced in January. The test data may, but must not necessarily be open source. Would blitzortung be willing to provide me with e.g. 10 Gigabyte worth of data ? If there are any costs involved, I am willing to discuss payment.

I can't wait for the new kit to be available.
Posted by: ace2 - 2014-12-27, 11:21 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

I live 40km south of Adelaide which is in south Australia, Australia.
I understand the coverage in my area is so so and I've been reading about these devices which would go well with my weather station with time-lapse video.

As my soldering skill are pretty poor, I'm looking forward to the pre built kits as well.
So I just thought I would pop in and say hello
